Wrong Way Driver Causes Serious Crash In Falmouth
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, a wrong-way driver caused several injuries in an early Sunday morning crash.
At about 1:27 AM on Sunday, August 22nd, law enforcement started receiving calls about a driver going north in the southbound lane of I-295 near Portland. Base don the location of the reporting drivers, they began searching for the vehicle.
A short time later, they received reports that the vehicle had crashed near mile marker 9 in Falmouth.
The wrong-way car was driven by 28 year old Brandon Johansen, of Bath. Johansen's car reportedly collide, head-on, with a vehicle driven by 50 year old Jennifer Marrone, of Portland.
Additionally, a vehicle driven by Hados Tsadik, of Portland, struck the vehicles driven by Johansen and Marrone.
According to the press release:
Marrone was transported to Maine Medical Center with serious injuries. She is in critical condition but is expected to survive. Two teenage passengers were in the backseat of Marrone’s car. They were transported to Maine Medical Center with minor injuries. Johansen, who was determined to be intoxicated, was transported to Maine Medical Center with minor injuries. Charges are pending for Aggravated Operating Under the Influence.
Tsadik was not injured in the crash.
