Through the end of the year, The Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland is hosting an amazing display by a Chinese sculptor named Ai Weiwei called Circle of Animals / Zodiac Heads: Gold

The display features massive bronze sculptures of the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac.

Check out these pics, but keep in mind they do not do them justice.  You really need to see these in person!

We should all feel very lucky to be able to see this exhibit here in the US.  According to Wikipedia, in 2011, days before this display was supposed to premiere in New York, Ai Weiwei was arrested in Beijing because (according to the Chinese government) he was under investigation for economic crimes and held for 81 days.  In the end, he was charged with tax evasion.  Following his release on June 22nd, he was forbidden from traveling outside Beijing until 2015.  Read his entire story here

In addition to the Ai Weiwei display, the museum also features work by Andrew Wyeth and an exhibit on artwork of the mountains of Maine.
