Rally in Portland to Protest Decision to Overturn Roe V. Wade

According to WGME Channel 13, yesterday while thousands of Mainer's were celebrating our Nation's Independence with BBQ's, parades and city events, many others gathered in Portland to Protest.

The Supreme Court's Decision to overturn Roe v. Wade has hit the Nation. There are different intense and passionate reactions to this decision.

Yesterday, there was a rally held in Portland to protest the decision which now let's states ban abortion, according to the article.

This rally was held by Planned Parenthood, the Maine Action Fund. According to their Facebook Page, Planned Parenthood, Maine Action Fund, "educates and advocates to protect and advance sexual health."

Many community members made signs, flags, and practiced their right to gather peacefully. This is the right to hold peaceful assembly,

According to Wikipedia, if you are unfamiliar with Roe v. Wade, it was decided in 1973 where the Supreme Court ruled that Constitution would protect the liberty to choose to have an abortion.

Recently, according to NPR,

in a historic and far-reaching decision, the U.S. Supreme Court officially reversed Roe v. Wade on Friday, declaring that the constitutional right to abortion, upheld for nearly a half century, no longer exists.

Because of this, tensions have grown to an all time high throughout the nation and the world resulting in many Americans holding rally's and protesting this decision.

At the same time, many Americans back the decision to overturn this law.

This would empower states to protect unborn children and begin to undo the damage done by nearly five decades of deadly legal precedent.
