Maine Woman Reaches An Incredible Hiking Milestone
Elysha Dyer is only 28 years old, but she's already hiked more than most people will in a lifetime.
According to the Sun Journal, Elysha recently completed the Triple Crown of Hiking.
What's that, you've never heard of the Triple Crown of Hiking? Well honestly, I hadn't either, before this. But what it represents is quite remarkable.
The newspaper reported that she's hiked three incredibly difficult trails: the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail and Continental Divide Trail. Each of those trails are over two thousand miles long, and they total 7,900 miles.
WOW!
There aren't a lot of people that can say they've done it. In fact, less than 400 people have been officially recognized as doing it since 1994, according to the Sun Journal, and Elysha will submit for official certification of her achievement from the ALDHA sometime next year.
I love hiking, and I dream of one day hiking the Appalachian Trail. That is, as soon as I can take seven months off from work to do it. I'm still trying to figure out how to talk my boss into letting me do that!
But seriously, that's pretty amazing. You should be wicked proud, Elysha!
