According to WGME, Lowe's is in the process of laying off thousands of workers nationwide.

The affected workers perform jobs like assembling grills and patio furniture and maintenance.  The company plans to outsource those jobs to other companies in order to allow employees to allow them to focus on sales.

Workers whose jobs have been eliminated will get transition pay and be allowed to apply for other jobs within the company.

We're not sure if any Central Maine workers have been eliminated, but we've heard about jobs being eliminated in other New England states.
