Kenny Rogers to Be Honored With Music City Walk of Fame Star
Kenny Rogers has earned a spot on the Music City Walk of Fame. The Grammy Awards-winning artists will be added to the Walk of Fame in late October.
Members of the Music City Walk of Fame are chosen because of the great impact that they have made on the music scene, not only in Nashville but as a whole. Rogers will be recognized with Music City Walk of Fame's 80th star in part due to the great success he has found as an artist and also because of his charitable work. Rogers will join the Music City Walk of Fame on Oct. 24, one day before All in for the Gambler: Kenny Rogers’ Farewell Concert Celebration is scheduled to take place at Bridgestone Arena.
“Kenny Rogers is one of the best storytellers in country music history, with one of the sweetest and most soulful voices,” Nashville Mayor Megan Barry says in a press release. “I’m so glad he’ll be able to join all the other amazing artists on the Music City Walk of Fame before he retires after nearly 60 years of making beautiful music.”
Rogers has sold more than 120 million albums and earned 24 No. 1 songs. He is one of the Top 10 best-selling male solo artists of all time (as reported by the RIAA), and has received three Grammy Awards, 19 American Music Awards, 11 People’s Choice Awards, eight ACM Awards and six CMA Awards.
Rogers' star-studded farewell tribute concert, All in for the Gambler: Kenny Rogers’ Farewell Concert Celebration, will feature a number artists — from various genres — who have been hand-picked by Rogers to perform. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the TJ Martell Foundation and the Kenny Rogers Children’s Center.
