Being new to New Hampshire means I’m constantly hearing, “Have you been to this place yet?”

And when locals say it with that tone, the one that feels half warning, half promise, you listen. This time, it was Tuckaway Tavern and Butchery in Raymond, New Hampshire and lucky for me, the amazing Sarah Sullivan decided it was time I stopped just hearing about it and actually experienced it… on 2-for-1 lobster roll day, no less.

I pull into the parking lot and immediately realize this is not a hidden gem. It’s packed. Full lot. Cars circling. It's that kind of busy.

Just as I’m preparing to accept defeat, someone pulls out, and I slide my truck into the spot like it was meant to be. It's a small New Hampshire miracle.

Inside, I’m warned about the wait, but somehow, we snag the last couple of seats at the bar. The bartender drops waters immediately (already a win), and I scan the taps long enough to know I need to try a local IPA.

Meanwhile, Sarah starts rattling off menu items like someone who’s studied for this exam. Steak tips. Mac and cheese. Specials. But let’s be honest, when it’s two-for-one lobster rolls, the decision is already made.

What arrived wasn’t just a feast. It was a spread. A banquet. A reckless commitment to excess, and I loved every second of it.

Warm lobster. Real chunks. Butter poured generously over the top like they weren’t worried about impressing anyone… because they already know they are.

Then came the marinated steak tips, cooked perfectly, with that char that makes you stop talking mid-sentence. The mac and cheese showed up with that golden panko crust, alongside sweet cowboy caviar and a fresh Caesar salad that somehow held its own among the heavy hitters.

At one point, I genuinely asked where the other four people were that we were ordering for. That is a wicked amount of food.

I’ll be honest, I don’t think I could’ve navigated the menu without Sarah’s guidance. It’s overwhelming in the best way. And when I finally waved the white flag, they boxed everything up without hesitation.

Spoiler alert: I absolutely ate more of it later. No regrets.

Just when I thought we were done, dessert showed up. Blue Balls. Tempura blueberry cheesecake with blueberry jam, blueberry ice cream, and whipped cream. I stared at it like it was a dare. You’re gonna need to roll me out of here.

But not before the butcher shop.

There’s a map on the wall where you can pin where you’re from (which I did). I walked into the market, and behind the glas,s there were marinated meats. Ground beef. Fresh sausages. Salads. Pasta salads.

Even while holding a bag of leftovers, I was finding myself hungry again. Sarah insisted I grab the Bangin’ Pasta Salad and put it in my bag. That was lunch the next day.  I can see why she insisted.  My stomach thanks her and the Tuck.

If you haven’t made the drive to 58 Route 27 in Raymond, you truly don’t know what you’re missing. I’ll be back. Over and over and over again. And next time, I’m bringing a cooler, because that fridge is getting filled.
