Being a native New Englander, I have had the opportunity to see and stay in every state in the Northeast.  Out of all the beautiful places I've been, however, I would have to pick this town to retire in.

All New England states have their beautiful places.

Newport, Rhode Island Mansions are Straight Out of a Romance Novel.

The characters of Pride and Prejudice will be running through your head as you walk through The Elms, The Marble House or the Breakers.

Mystic, Connecticut is Stunning

One of my college roommates is from Mystic, Connecticut.  When I went to visit her, I thought I would stay forever.

Cape Cod Has Been My Happy Place More Than Once

I would have to say that Cape Cod is my second choice for a retirement place.  Woods Hole is one of my favorite places around.  Quaint, quintessential New England, complete with cute coffee shop with breakfast bites.

Vermont is the Place to be in the Fall

Flocks of people head to the Green Mountain state for the fall foliage.  The air smells like home with all the farms and ... cows.

New Hampshire is my Home

I was born in New Hampshire.  My family is here and my blood will always bleed 'live free or die,' however, I don't want to retire here.  New Hampshire also represents work.  I have collected most of my paychecks here in New Hampshire, so no, I don't want to retire here.

Cape Elizabeth, Maine is the Perfect Place to Retire

For a few years, my family lived in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.  Just remembering that time brings a smile to my face as I recall all the things I love about that town.

Kettle Cove:  I walked to that beach in every season.  Even in the dead of winter.  There was always someone there taking in the beautiful sights. Perfect place to hang for a retiree.

Crescent Beach:  The was the beach more well known to the public.  You can walk from Kettle Cove to Crescent beach without paying the park fee, but don't tell anyone I told you.

Pond Cove IGA Grocery Store:  A throw back store that has everything a retiree needs to a bottle of wine to a pack of cards.

Maxwell's Farm:  This is where every retiree goes to pick their own strawberries.  They are just like the ones you got as a kid.

Portland Head Light and Fort Williams Park:  I have spent as much time here as I could.  It's where I had a significant birthday party with my entire family.

The Good Table:  This is the place where I can eat all of the cinnamon rolls I want.  Retirees can do that sort of thing.

The Lobster Shack:  Stunning views of the Atlantic.  This is the last restaurant I ever took my Mom.

The only issue now with Cape Elizabeth is the cost of real estate.  There are enough huge houses on Shore Road that I'm thinking maybe someone could just lend us a room or two.  We'd be fine with that.
