A Police Department in Clinton, Maine is getting the internets attention for their sense of humor on their Facebook page, but don't take that as getting away with crime in their town.  They are serious about upholding the law and doing their job when its needed.

Clinton, Maine is about 30 minutes Northeast of Augusta.  It's a small town that has more cows than people and is known as the "dairy capital of Maine," according to clinton-me.us

Their Facebook page started to really gain attention around Christmastime with this post:

When that blew up, they continued with similar posts like this one from January 26, 2026:

For the record:
If you decide tonight is the night to summon your inner Fast and Furious hero and attempt parking lot donuts just because it snowed a little bit, that is now officially a private conversation between you, the pavement, and whatever higher power handles poor decisions.
We are cold.
We are tired.
We are not doing physics lessons at midnight.
And we are fresh out of patience for Clinton Drift.
Drive normal. Or walk home reflecting on your choices. That is all.

What Message is Clinton Police Department Sending?

When asked about what they were trying to accomplish with the lighthearted page, Cpl. Conners said to boston.com:
I hope that people see Clinton is great.  If you come to Clinton, our police department is going to treat you fairly. If you break the law, we’re going to deal with it, because we do have a job to do, but we’re not out to harass people. We’re not out to give people a hard time. … But otherwise, come to Clinton, have fun, don’t be stupid.
More police departments should let people see the lighter side of the law.  We need more smiles and laughter in this world, don't you think?
