America’s New #1 Supermarket Only Has One Location in Maine
There are a lot of choices when it comes to grocery stores. Sometimes, it comes down to a matter of convenience or price.
Maine is home to Hannaford Brothers Headquarters, so you might assume that it's the state's favorite grocery store, but you'd be wrong.
Trader Joe's is tied with Publix for the latest number one spot. Trader Joe's has only one location in Portland, Maine.
Last year, Costco, with only one location in Scarborough, Maine held the number one spot.

This year, America has picked two supermarkets, Publix, with zero locations in Maine and Trader Joe's, with only one location in Portland, according to ACSI.com.
Some of the Metrics that ACSI used are:
- Convenience: If a store isn't close, we are probably less likely to go there.
- Ease of Pickup process: If you order your groceries online, the process has to be simple.
- Quality of Mobile app: Trader Joe's has an app? I guess everyone does.
- Ability to provide brand names: This one has me perplexed. Trader Joe's only carries Trader Joe brands. Well, I can attest, they are good.
There are other metrics that were used, but I think overall, Trader Joe's is a really good choice for the Number one spot.
Maine Has Zero Publix Locations
Tied with Trader Joe's is Publix. When I travel to other parts of the country, I notice this is a huge supermarket chain, but there are none in New Hampshire, Maine or Massachusetts.
