New Convenience Store in Downtown Portland, Maine, is Packed With Snacks You Didn’t Know Existed
The center of the Old Port finally has a convenience store again—and no, it’s not your typical corner shop with a standard rack of candy and dusty Advil from 2009. Following the closing of City Beverage, Fore Street was left tragically void of a spot to grab last-minute toilet paper and an emergency Red Bull... or should I say a last-minute Red Bull and emergency toilet paper? Either way, enter: The Aggressive Cookie, now open next to Gritty’s on Fore St. in the old Brewtique space.
And yes, it's aggressively...awesome.
You’ll still find your Bud Light, Tums, Ibuprofen, and TP, but things get weird when you hit the snacks. It's a store full of global munchies, mostly from Asia. Matcha Kit Kats? Check. Cucumber and Sea Salt Pringles? Got 'em. Random Ramen flavors? Yep. Rice Krispie Treat Peeps? For some reason, yes.
Store manager Tadeau told me the idea behind The Aggressive Cookie is to offer treats and drinks with a twist—mostly imported from Asia. Some snacks don’t even have English labels, so unless you’re fluent in Japanese, you’re just going off vibes and whatever is pictured on the front of the package.
The place is full of out of the norm kid-focused candies and energy drinks that’ll make you question reality. Is that a Bob Ross energy drink, you ask?
Why, yes it is. Does it taste like happy little trees? Hard to say, but another one of the many unique energy drinks you will find is.... well, let's just say not for your mom’s church group.
In short, The Aggressive Cookie isn’t just a convenience store—it’s a snack-fueled fever dream with endless weird snacks, drinks and great gift ideas you didn’t know you needed. Kids and parents are likely to have fun in this little piece of the Old Port.
