It feels like it has just been a long weather year in Maine and it's only the beginning of May.

Winter lingered to start to year, unwilling to let the Pine Tree State break free from frigid temperatures and annoying storms.

Spring hasn't brought the normal reprieve for sticking out another winter in Maine. Instead, spring 2026 has been a dud filled with lots of gray skies, brisk wind and below-average temperatures for portions of the state.

So summer has to be good this year, right? The National Weather Service to add some more rain to the parade.

NOAA Predicts a Mild Summer For Maine and Most of New England

Over the past several years, Maine has endured some significantly hot summers. In fact, people throughout the state have already begun to brace for it as the new normal.

But the NOAA prediction for the 2026 summer in Maine may feel like a call back to the past.

NOAA predicts that Maine will see two things throughout June and July. Mild temperatures and moderate rainfall.

Maine typically averages a daytime high of 72 degrees in June and 75 degrees in July. Expect to see that versus the 80 degree weather the state has had in the summer more recently.

Old Farmers' Almanac is Predicting Mild Summer For Maine As Well

Another popular forecaster, the Old Farmers' Almanac, is joining the NOAA in predicting a mild summer in Maine.

The Old Farmers' Almanac is calling for May to average about 60 degrees for a daytime high and June to average 68 degrees for a daytime high.

The Old Farmers' Almanac does predict more precipitation over the next couple of months versus the NOAA forecast.
