The Lewiston Mall had been home to Ames department store until its permanent closure in 2002. Despite Ames closing, the Lewiston Mall continued to chug along.
But once Sears closed for good at the Lewiston Mall in 2013, things began to look a little bleak.

Hannaford Set to Open New Store As Part of Mall Refresh in Lewiston, Maine
According to the Lewiston Sun Journal, Hannaford is set to take over the old space that once housed Sears in the Lewiston Mall.
Hannaford will transform the 51,00 square foot area into a fully functional location, with a full-service pharmacy and Hannaford to-go capabilities.
The Lewiston Mall location will be the second Hannaford store in Lewiston. Hannaford plans to open early in 2027.
The Lewiston Mall Has Had a Rich History in the City
The original Lewiston Mall opened in 1969 with Sears as one of its original anchor tenants.
Over the years, the Lewiston Mall had been home to dozens of well-known brands like Fashion Bug, Olympia Sports, Radio Shack and Zayre.
There were also restaurants that many people miss from the Lewiston Mall like Deering Ice Cream, York Steak House and the Heartland Buffet.
