Portland, Maine, Realtor Becomes ‘Jeopardy!’ Champion
One of the most popular game shows in America, 'Jeopardy!', has become a generational part of many families lives. Couples and families watch the show together and many dream of one day gracing the Alex Trebek stage in an attempt to become a champion.
While many dream it, few get to achieve it. Most families are lucky enough to get one contestant on the show. But one couple from Maine have pushed the bar a little higher, as both husband and wife have become 'Jeopardy!' champions.
Portland, Maine, Realtor Jason Singer Crowned 'Jeopardy!' Champion on July 1
A little piece of 'Jeopardy!' history took place on July 1, as former Portland Press Herald reporter and editor as well as current realtor Jason Singer was crowned as a 'Jeopardy!' champion thanks to a ferocious double jeopardy round that saw him get two daily doubles correct.
The history came as Singer joined his wife, Susan McMillan, as a champion on the venerable game show. It's the first time in the history of the show that a couple was married prior to their appearances on 'Jeopardy!' and then both became champions.
Susan McMillan Became a 'Jeopardy!' Champion in 2021
During the interview segment of the July 1 episode of 'Jeopardy', Jason Singer told host Ken Jennings that he and his wife have been trivia fanatics forever but that he always felt like she was significantly smarter than him.
Jennings mused that playing trivia alongside a former 'Jeopardy!' champion is perfect practice for the show itself and that proved to be prophetic.
McMillan won her game in March of 2021 fulfilling a lifelong dream. She didn't get to meet famed 'Jeopardy!' champion Ken Jennings however as Dr. Oz was the guest host during her winning episode.
