U.S. News Travel has released their list of the best small towns throughout America to visit in 2026. And for the fifth straight year, Bar Harbor remains king of the mountain.

Bar Harbor has long been touted as one of the prettiest towns in America. Droves of visitors can confirm that during the summer months, but spring and fall visits can be just as rewarding and often times more pleasurable with lighter crowds.

The lure of Acadia National Park has long made Bar Harbor a key destination for tourism. With Acadia's popularity surging to all-time levels in recent years, the same can be said for Bar Harbor.

U.S. News suggest first-time visitors embrace a boat tour to truly enjoy the epic Maine coastline as well as making sure they sink their teeth into any and all lobster they can get their hands on during their stay.

Camden, Maine, Also Makes the List of Best Small Towns in America For 2026

Maine got a chance to double dip on the U.S. News Best Small Towns list for the second straight year. Camden rolled in at number 18 with a different set of instructions for visitors than Bar Harbor.

U.S. News suggests a visit in the fall, deeming Camden to be among the most stunning places to absorb fall foliage. Summiting Mount Battie in Camden Hills State Park is a sure fire way to achieve a perfect view.

U.S. News also suggests a leisurely stroll down Camden's historic district to appreciate the old world architecture, peruse the quaint shops and sit down for a bite to eat at one of Camden's many inviting restaurants.
