Maine’s Leaves Are Changing Fast: Here’s Where the Best Color Is Now
Well, its the first official week of Fall, and boy does it feel like it. This has been one epic week of weather, just the perfect temperature with the slightest crisp of the seasonal air.
The only thing that can make this week better is a little bit of color from those trees.
When are the Peak Fall Foliage Times in Maine?
The season has officially begun, with reports dropping weekly now. According to maine.gov, "peak" season for Northern Maine is the end of September. That's followed by mid-October for Central and Western Maine, and then closer to the end of October for Southern Maine.

Going by these numbers, we are approaching our first "peak" season with the north. It's wonderful to see the leaves starting to change quite a bit. And thanks to the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry's Maine Foliage Report, we can see exactly where things stand.

Well, it's official, the peak has hit Northern Maine. Aroostook County is in prime foliage viewing, so now is the perfect time for a road trip up north.

What is the Best Weather for Optimal Fall Foliage?
We have had some very good weather for foliage over the last few weeks. According to the Farmer's Almanac, the belief is warm days and crisp, cool nights can help the foliage season really brighten up, especially with those wonderful colors. And that's exactly what a lot of Maine has had. Here's hoping that terrible rainy weather this coming weekend doesn't ruin everything.
