Watch 2 Minutes of UMaine Students Saying What Made Them Happy Today
The University of Maine in Orono did a simple thing for its students. A microphone was set up and ready to record any students who stepped up to share what made them happy today. The responses were fantastic.
University of Maine Campus
In 1865, the University of Maine was formed and today has an enrollment of around 11,500 students, making it the state's largest college or university.
I was a student there for a year, but quickly realized it wasn't for me. I wanted to be on the radio, and instead, I was taking physics and literature classes I would never use. It all worked out for me, though.
What Made You Happy Today?
It's a question that you rarely hear asked, but this little experiment on the mall of the UMaine campus intrigued students. When they saw that microphone with a sign that said, "What made you happy today," they were happy to share.
It's interesting to hear the responses. One person was happy they had a cheeseburger for the first time in a long time. Another was happy for the sunshine and 70-degree weather, and that she had just gotten a 100 on her exam.
This is a good reminder for all of us to take some time to think about the things that make us happy each day. They can be anything from big news to a delicious lunch. The world can be a hectic place full of stress, but if you pause and just think about what made you happy today, your mood will undoubtedly change for the better.
