According to Mainegolf.com, there are well over 100 golf courses across the state where you can try to tee up on and play like Tiger Woods or Rory McIlroy. Maybe even Happy Gilmore?

Whether you’re a seasoned golfer looking for a challenging course or a casual player who wants a laid-back round with scenic views, the Pine Tree State has something for everyone.

But which one is the ultimate course that stands above all the others?

Best Golf Course in Maine

The "best" anything is always up for debate, and I'm sure you've got your favorite spots to lay up a sweet chip shot on the green.

Maybe for you, it's the Falmouth Country Club, which hosts a celebrity golf tournament that benefits the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center. Or maybe it's Boothbay Harbor Country Club, which ranked first in the best courses for 2025 from mainegolf.com.

But among the many standouts is the No. 1 course in Maine per Golf.com and its expert panel.

That would be Cape Arundel Golf Club.

According to the Cape Arundel GC's website, this private club in Kennebunkport was founded in 1896 and features "small greens, rolling terrain, and water views."

Golf.com notes that the course comes in at less than 6,000 yards and is the "shortest course to make [its] list" of top courses in Maine.

Did you know former President George W. Bush has played the course and, according to the club's website, is a member?

Cape Arundel Golf Club also says that some other notable players on its course included Babe Ruth, Francis Ouimet, Arnold Palmer, and Phil Mickelson, who set the course record of 60 in 2006.
