What's your go-to favorite breakfast food?

Fluffy eggs, hearty pancakes, crispy bacon, and sugary (or healthy) cereal might be on the list for kicking off your day.

My absolute favorite has to be deliciously warm French toast topped with some Grade A maple syrup from Maine. But I wouldn't say no to it if it came from another New England state like Vermont or New Hampshire, either.

Best French Toast in Maine

There's a bunch of top-tier options for French toast in the Pine Tree State, and you, of course, probably have your own no. 1 spot picked out.

Food website Eat This, Not That! says that one Wells restaurant stands tall among the rest as their best choice for Maine for French Toast.

That would be Merriland Farm Cafe, which, according to the bio on its Facebook page, is a "special discovery off the beaten path offering breakfast and lunch all day."

Eat This, Not That! highlights the variety of French toast options, including the heavy amount of fruit from blueberries to peaches that can go with it.

Or maybe you want some strawberries instead? Definitely some maple syrup, too, right?

Merriland Farm Cafe in Wells, Maine

Merrliand Farm Cafe, which boasts a 4.2 out of 5 rating on TripAdvisor, has a number of reviews for its French Toast.

They include callouts such as "astonishingly good," "to die for," and "out of this world."

The restaurant is definitely a hidden gem and not on any main stretch of road. Located at 557 Coles Hill Road in Wells, it'll feel like you're driving through the woods to reach your destination.

OpenTable says the cafe can be found in "a historic cape house built in the mid 1700’s on a retired berry farm."

Plus, there's even an outdoor garden patio where you can enjoy your breakfast... once the winter season decides to get lost for good.

One of my favorite Maine spots for breakfast and getting a tall stack of French Toast is at Dysart's in Hermon, which I sadly haven't been to in a while.

According to the restaurant's online menu, Dysart's has been using the same recipe for over 50 years, turning its homemade bread into some tasty French toast for its customers.

Now I want some...

Have you been to Merriland Cafe? Dysart's? Where's your favorite place to eat some French toast?
