3 Adorable Maine Based DIY Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
Fancy, expensive gifts are awesome gifts for mom don't get me wrong, I just grew up differently and wonder if you did too.
For as long as I can remember my mother always appreciated home-made gifts over something store bought because of the effort.
She'd love a gift that's as little as a handwritten card before she felt appreciated over a Louis Vuitton bag. Actually, if your ma is anything like mine she'd rather a card or a trip to TJMaxx or Marshalls.

Pressed Flower Memory Book
Hand-pick some of her favorite flowers and press them between two pieces of wax paper using an iron to secure them in place.
Create a memory book where you make a dedication page using your pressed flowers and writing a little message to her. You start the thoughtful idea and she gets to finish it.
In Cape Elizabeth, there's a "pick your own" flower farm stand called Fresh Pickins that this was inspired by.
Take a visit! 192 Bowery Beach Rd. Cape Elizabeth.
Fruit, vegetable and flower seed packets
This sounds so simple and it is. Sometimes simple joys are what mom's need the most after a chaotic week with the kids. Generally seeds are very inexpensive so this is an affordable option for those of you on a budget.
Take it one step further and write a little paragraph for each packet that reminds her of a memory you had during your childhood that involved that specific fruit or veggie.
Broadway Gardens in South Portland has always inspired me to start a garden. Support local and buy your packets from them!
Coffee, coffee, coffee
Unless your mama isn't a coffee drinker, most mother's survive the day with that 'first sip feeling'. Grab some whole coffee beans and crush them yourself.
Empty the entire contents into a big, clear, glass jar for the counter and put a ribbon on it. Bonus; grab a pack of coffee filters with it so she's all set to fire up a bomb cup of coffee.
Inspired by my camp up in Cherry Field, Maine. With very limited kitchen tools, drip coffee is one of the most comforting things we do in the morning.
Dang, I hope my mom doesn't see this because I'm about to do all three for her this year. Have fun kids and happy Mother's Day!
