Well, big news for dessert lovers in Dover-Foxcroft! This town’s famous celebration of Maine’s favorite treat has earned a national bragging rights! 

Here’s why, The Maine Whoopie Pie Festival recently snatched 2nd place in the USA Today’s ranking for Best Specialty Food Festival in the entire country, as per WABI. 

Who’s surprised? Not us! Whoopies are a magical Maine staple. 

According to the article, 20 festivals were nominated throughout the nation and it was the only event from Maine that made the list.

First place went to Delta Hot Tamale Festival, but coming in second still puts this sweet Maine desserts firmly at the top of the national map.

Thousands of these delightful cakes are baked and sold during the event and enjoyed by tons of New England visitors who come ready to dive in.  

This festival isn’t just about dessert either it is dedicated to local vendors, live entertainment, and family friendly fun that turns this town into a lively and unforgettable event.  

As per the article, in addition to all the sweetness, the event helps support two local  organizations: the Piscataquis Chamber of Commerce and the Center Theatre for the Performing Arts.
