A social media content creator named Ben, who goes by the username @ploggarun, posted a video to his Instagram and Facebook pages, showing him picking up a lost wallet that had a significant amount of cash in it. He found it during one of his runs in South Portland, where he picks up trash to dispose of while running and placing it in a bag he carries.

He then did the right thing and found a nearby South Portland Police Officer asking if he could return the wallet to its owner, since the wallet also had the person's ID.

South Portland PD posted about the incident on their Facebook page:

Recently, a South Portland resident came across a wallet filled with cash. Instead of keeping it, he did the right thing—he brought it straight to a South Portland Police Officer. Because of his honesty, we were able to reunite the wallet and money with its rightful owner.
Acts like this remind us that integrity and kindness are alive and well in our community. Thank you to this community member for setting a positive example!

And a post from the owner of the wallet ended up on Facebook as well. The name, however, is obscured for privacy.

Last week I lost my wallet, but not for long. A kind man found it and brought it to the police station with every last penny still in it. The officer didn't get the person's name, but said he runs a lot in SoPo and wears a yellow bag. If that was you and you see this, THANK YOU so very much. Or if you happen to cross his path, thank him for me. Kindness goes such a long way, and I'm grateful to live where there is lots of it.
