The very first time I went to Funtown U.S.A. was in 1979, and I was 8 years old. This is before Splashtown. Cascade Water Park was in that space until it was bought by the Cormier family and turned into Splashtown. Ever since then, I have tried to visit the best amusement park in Maine every summer.

Only Funtown will be open on May 24, with Splashtown scheduled to open on June 14. That's always the way, as you can never be sure just how warm it will be in May. This spring has been the best I can remember. Temperatures still aren't comfortable enough at the point to go for a swim, but before you know it, Splashtown will be ready.

If you want to get ahead of the game, you can buy your tickets online now at funtownsplashtownusa.com.
