Dropkick Murphys Will Throw Free Street Show for Quincy’s 400th Birthday
Boston’s own Celtic punk band, the Dropkick Murphys, are headlining a free street show on Friday July 12th in Quincy Center and yeah, it’s totally free, according to Dropkick.
It's called Quincy400, why? Because they are not only releasing a new album but also celebrating Quincy's 400th birthday! Quincy was born in 1625, whoa.
According to the website, the show is "all for the people: free album release show."
Dropkick Murphys to Headline Free Quincy Street Show for 400th Celebration
Most of us associate this band with their mega hit, Shipping Up to Boston.
Who doesn’t love that song? If you didn’t already know, the band was born right in Quincy, Mass back in 1996.
This is more than just a show ladies and gents, it’s a hometown reunion moment.
Below is a video of Dropkick Murphy's via Punk Rock Holiday on YouTube and they are wildly talented live!
According to CBS News, the Mayor of Quincy, Thomas P. Koch remarked, "The Dropkick Murphys are not just a world-famous band - they're part of our Quincy story"
The show starts at 4:00pm on Hancock Street and is for all ages who like to rock, Boston-style. You don’t need to be punk rock, you can come for local pride, and beer.
I am assuming we’ll expect a massive crowd with lots of energy and all the bagpipes!
As per the site, the new album drops on July 4th and fittingly they will be playing right next to their very first practice spot.

The entire Hancock street area is set to be closed off to travel starting July 11th for setup, so plan ahead.
Bottom line guys, this is going to be the most epic show of the summer. Quincy is celebrating their 400th birthday and the Dropkick Murphy’s are bringing the sound.
