Maine’s ‘Marden’s’ Moving To Bangor In 2026; Brewer Location To Close Next Year
First, it was Renys opening on Springer Drive last year, and now Marden's is Bangor-bound! The Queen City is going to be full of great discounts before the year's end.
It opened on Wilson Street in Brewer in 1987, and for almost 40 years, Marden's has been a bargain shopper's favorite spot! (Just ask my mom, she's there all the time!)
So it will be sad to see their doors close next year, BUT the good news is they won't be closing until the new Marden's in Bangor opens up.

You read that right, Bangor is getting its very own Marden's.
According to Marden's Chief Financial Officer, Kyle Eddy, the company recently purchased the old Burlington Coat Factory location at 229 Springer Drive and plans to open a new Marden's location there next year.
"We're doing a bunch of repairs and stuff like that right now, getting it ready, but we're hoping to open sometime in the first quarter of 2026."
The City of Bangor had set the value of the property (land and the building) at $5,955,600 for 2025. While the property on Springer Drive has changed hands a few times in the last couple of decades, last week's sale went through for $3,825,000, to Miser Junior LLC out of Winslow, the main location of the family-owned Marden's business.
Eddy says the goal has always been to try to move the store into the Queen City, and that was the thought process behind the purchase of the property on Springer Drive.
"Just trying to get to Bangor. "
He said that once the Bangor store is up and running in 2026, the plan is to close the 564 Wilson Street location in Brewer.
There are currently over a dozen Marden's locations across the state of Maine.
