This Bangor, Maine Ice Cream Shop Has Closed For Good!
In May of last year, a new Mexican-inspired Ice Cream Shop opened up in Bangor.
Specializing in unique flavors, "Betty's Ice Cream" was opened by Ana Guzman, whose family also owns "Las Palapas" and the soon-to-open "Roca Azul" restaurant in the former Ground Round building.
After less than a year of being open, it was announced on Tuesday, via their social media page, that Betty's has closed for good.
"We are permanently closing for good. We sincerely thank all of our loyal customers for their loyal preference throuought this time. If you still have gift cards, don't worry, you can still use them at Las Palalaps Bangor restaurant at any time."
Management says the Mexican Ice Cream will still be available for sale at the Las Palapas restaurant, for those who want to buy it.
This didn't stop folks from lamenting about the loss of such a unique place in the Bangor area.
One person remarking in the comment section said "I went multiple times and took new people with me every time. This is so sad! Legit loved the entire vibe of this place."
While another commented "I have been looking forward to the treats all winter! Bummer."
No word yet on what will go into the storefront at 1012 Stillwater Avenue.

Meanwhile, most of the other ice cream shops in the greater Bangor area have opened up for the season. The last holdouts are Dairy Port in Bucksport, which will open March 29th, and Spencer's Ice Cream in Bradley, which we're told is up for sale again.
