
Man Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison for Ammo Possession in Maine
A 38-year-old Maine man was sentenced to 2 years in prison for Being a Felon in Possession of Ammunition.
24 Months in Prison
Tyson Dyer was given 24 months and three years of supervised release. He was previously convicted of Drug Trafficking and Illegally Possessing a Firearm.
Report of Vehicle on Fire
Dyer was arrested in January 2023 after officers responded to a fire inside a vehicle in Portland. Police had received a 911 call for two people smoking in a parked car.
Ammo Found in Vehicle
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said “The officers observed an empty black gun holster on the front seat and after searching the vehicle, located five loaded magazines beneath some items on the seat. In all, officers recovered 103 rounds.”
Prior Convictions
Dyer was precluded from having ammo due to his prior convictions.
Lead Investigator
Investigating the case was the ATF and the Portland Police Department.
