Something new is ready to spice up Downtown Bangor's nightlife, in May!

Mark Greenleaf, has been the owner of Carolina's Sports & Spirits, for over 20 years, but he recently stepped down, selling the business to a new owner.

The location at 16 Union Street, has been a nightlife destination for years. It was previously open as "The Waterfront" and "Legends" before Greenleaf took control.

Next month, will see the debut of Salt North Taproom, at the same spot in Bangor.

Salt North Taproom, will be your go-to craft cocktail bar + kitchen, serving bold food, electric energy, and unforgettable nights.

Local flavor, loud vibes, and legendary pours. Get ready to "Catch The Vibe"

In fact, they are already hard at work, remodeling the space, as you can see from a recent Facebook post

Now that you know all that, here is how it all breaks down:

Who is the new owner?

Dane Morgan will take over the reins, starting on April 1. He brings experience in the restaurant business and has also worked as a DJ.

What will change?

The name for starters. Salt North Taproom, will feature soul food cooked meats, such as jerk chicken, creative craft cocktails, and an outdoor beer garden, that will feature live entertainment.

When will they open?

The new owner plans for a Grand Opening date of Sunday, May 4. That is subject to change, so stay tuned!

When will Carolina's close?

Carolina's had one last epic weekend, but closed their doors for good, this past Saturday night.

The list is dominated by three breweries- Allagash, Bissel Brothers, and Maine Beer Co. The IPA style is clearly the most popular, which is not surprising given recent beer trends.
