When you think about TV series that were set in Maine, reality shows like "North Woods Law" and "Maine Cabin Masters" come to mind.

The same can be said for miniseries based on Stephen King books, such as "The Stand" and "Storm of the Century."

When you take those out of the equation, what's left? Well, you're about to find out.

Maine TV Shows Set in Maine

Let's take a look at five television shows that were set in Maine. Some of them you might even recognize.

Murder, She Wrote

"Murder, She Wrote" was a crime drama starring Angela Lansbury, who portrayed Jessica Fletcher, a mystery writer and amateur detective who solved murder cases.

While the show was primarily filmed at Universal Studios in California, it was set in the fictional town of Cabot Cove, Maine.

With a total of 264 episodes, "Murder, She Wrote" aired on CBS from September 1984 to May 1996.

Passions

"Passions" was a soap opera that blended drama with supernatural elements. It took place in the fictional town of Harmony, Maine.

What's odd about the setting is that Harmony is a real-life town in Somerset County, Maine, but "Passions" takes place in the fictional Harmony.

To make things even more interesting, in addition to filming in California, the show also filmed in the coastal Maine towns of Camden, Belfast and Rockland.

However, the real Harmony is over 100 miles from the ocean.

The show originally aired on NBC from July 1999 to Sept. 2007 and then aired on DirecTV's The 101 Network from Sept. 2007 to Aug. 2008.

Once Upon a Time

"Once Upon a Time" was a fantasy adventure drama series that took place in two different settings: a fantasy world and the fictional coastal town of Storybrooke, Maine.

"Once Upon a Time" aired on ABC from October 2011 to May 2018.

The show was created by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, who served as writers for the hit ABC sci-fi adventure drama TV series "Lost."

Dark Shadows

"Dark Shadows" was a Gothic horror daytime soap opera that aired on ABC from June 1966 to April 1971.

It featured the wealthy Collins family and took place in the fictional town of Collinsport, Maine.

The show focused on the family's encounters with supernatural creatures. There were three films based on the TV show, including the 2012 Dark Shadows film, which starred Johnny Depp and was directed by Tim Burton.

Bunk'd

"Bunk'd" was a comedy series that aired on Disney Channel from July 2015 to August 2024.

It was a spinoff of the Disney series "Jessie." The show follows siblings Emma, Ravi, and Zuri Ross as they attend a summer camp in Maine.

The show takes place at Camp Kikiwaka, a fictional summer camp near Moose Rump.
