With so many food items originating from and being invented in Maine, why are we focusing on this one in particular?

Well, with that in mind, what does Cheapism say is the best sandwich invented right here in Maine?

According to Cheapism and their report, ‘Sandwiches That Were Invented In Each State,’ the sandwich highlighted for Maine is—many would say our favorite—the lobster roll, specifically a cold lobster roll.

It might seem obvious that the lobster roll was invented in Maine—of course, right?

However, according to this article, the first lobster roll actually originated in Connecticut, where it was served hot with butter rather than cold with mayo, as is traditional in Maine. So, while Maine is more famous for lobster rolls today, Connecticut claims credit for creating it!

Well, there it is. As The Notorious B.I.G. said best, 'If you don’t know, now you know.' Or something like that. The cold lobster roll was invented right here in Maine!
