Thousands of New Recalls on These Popular Vehicles in Maine
It was just announced that new recalls have been issued for tens of thousands of vehicles that are popular here in Maine.
Lots of people see recalls as a bad thing—but really, it's a good sign they caught the problem early, right?
With that in mind, why are recalls important—and why should we, as vehicle owners, take them seriously?
Recalls are important because they fix safety problems in our vehicles, and taking them seriously helps keep us, our passengers, and others on the road safe—and at the end of the day, that’s something we all want.

Now that we've covered that, which makes and models—vehicles driven by thousands of Mainers—have just been affected by these newly announced recalls?
Ford, Volvo, and Nissan have all announced vehicle recalls affecting over 45,000 cars due to various safety issues, according to USA Today.
Ford is recalling ‘20–’22 Escape, ‘21–’23 Bronco Sport, and ‘20–’22 Explorer vehicles due to faulty repairs from previous recalls that could cause fuel leaks or rear axle issues.
According to the recall report, affected vehicles lack updated powertrain control module software, which dealers will install for free starting April 24th.
Volvo is recalling 7,483 plug-in hybrid vehicles from 2020 to 2022 due to a risk of battery short circuit when fully charged and parked.
Owners are advised not to charge their vehicles until dealers inspect and replace the battery module and update the software for free, with notifications going out starting May 15th.
Nissan is recalling certain 2025 Muranos, Pathfinders, and INFINITI QX60s due to potentially weak front brake caliper assemblies that could break.
Dealers will inspect and replace the parts for free on 1,430 affected vehicles, with owner notification letters going out on May 9th.
