So, with that in mind—for those who may have been living under a rock for the past half-decade and aren’t sure—who is Cooper Flagg?

Flagg is an 18-year-old basketball star who was just selected as the number one pick in the 2025 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks, making him the second youngest player ever taken first overall. His popularity here in Maine goes beyond his NBA talent—he grew up in Newport, so he’s one of our own.

Yes, he’s one of our own, and now he’s officially a video game character in NBA 2K26.

As shown Thursday afternoon on Twitter/X by Ronnie 2K, the game’s lifestyle and content marketing lead, he and Cooper Flagg played together for Cooper’s first time experiencing himself in the game.

We’ve already gotten a little preview of Cooper Flagg on the court virtually, but soon we’ll see the real thing.

His Dallas Mavericks will open preseason play on October 6th against the reigning NBA Champion Oklahoma City Thunder, before his official regular season debut on October 22nd versus Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.
