Crews Rescue Dog After Fire Breaks Out at Maine Home
A dog is safe after firefighters responded to a house fire Tuesday morning on Aroostook Drive in Windham.
According to Windham Professional Fire Fighters Local 4095, crews were dispatched to the two-story home around 9:25 a.m. after reports of a fire at the residence. Officials say the blaze appears to have started on the home’s porch before spreading into the structure.
When firefighters arrived, they quickly began working to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading further. While battling the blaze, crews were able to rescue a dog from inside the home. The animal was removed safely and transported to a local veterinary hospital for evaluation and care, WGME reported.
WGME said there has been no immediate word on the condition of the dog, and officials have not reported any injuries to residents or firefighters.
Fire crews remained on scene late Tuesday morning extinguishing hot spots and assessing damage to the home. The extent of the damage has not yet been released.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
