Portland, Maine Just Ranked Among the Top 5 Foodie Cities in America for 2026

Listen, we all know Portland has one heck of a food scene.

For a relatively small city, the amount of incredible food packed into Portland is kind of ridiculous. Seafood, pizza, brunch, bakeries, fine dining, you name it, there’s probably a place in Portland doing it extremely well.

And now, the city is getting even more national recognition.

Portland, Maine, Is America’s No. 4 Foodie City

According to Yelp, Portland was ranked the No. 4 Top Foodie City in America for 2026. Yes, fourth. In the entire country.

Yelp teamed up with Lyft to determine which cities Americans are turning to for dining, using Yelp activity and Lyft ride data. Portland finished behind only New Orleans, Charleston, and San Diego, putting it ahead of some seriously well-known food cities.

Seafood Helps Portland Stand Out

According to Yelp, Portland has developed one of the most distinctive food identities in the country, with seafood being one of the city’s most-searched cuisines.

That probably won’t surprise many Mainers.

Portland favorites Scales and Eventide Oyster Co. were among the hottest restaurant destinations based on Lyft data. They were also two of the most-saved Portland restaurants by Yelp users.

Are We Really Surprised?

Totally understandable that Portland, Maine, made the list. The food scene really is popping off here. There are so many options, and it feels like there’s always another restaurant worth trying.
