The Maine Office of Cannabis Policy (OCP) has issued a mandatory recall for a popular line of cannabis vape cartridges after testing revealed unsafe pesticide levels.

According to the Kennebec Journal,, the recalled products are Yani brand adult-use live resin vape cartridges, produced by NorCo Outdoor Cannabis.

Testing showed that some of these cartridges contained unsafe levels of the pesticide chlorfenapyr, which can cause fever, sweating, nausea, vomiting, and altered mental status if inhaled.

The newspaper went on to explain that the recall follows a consumer complaint about an adverse health reaction linked to the product.

It applies to Yani 0.5-gram and 1-gram cartridges under the strain name Watermelon Chimera, sold between July 10 and October 16 at more than 20 recreational cannabis stores across Maine.

The affected batch number, found on the back of the packaging, is 1A40D0300006145000011115.

The KJ said that retailers that carried the recalled product include:

Belvidere Farm in Rockland;

Cannabis Cured locations in Bangor, Bethel, Carrabassett Valley, Damariscotta, Eliot, Fairfield, Portland, Stratton, and Thomaston;

Cannabis Haven in Auburn, Augusta, Lewiston, and Waterville;

Garden Lites 420 in Peru; GreenLife Guilford and GreenLife Milo;

Hive, LLC in Chelsea;

OMG Cannabis Co. and The Joint.me in Portland;

Royal Leaf Apothecary in Presque Isle.

The OCP advises consumers who purchased these products to return them to the retailer or safely dispose of them immediately.
