It was a tragic end to a search for a teen that had gone missing in a Maine lake on Sunday afternoon in the small town of Aurora.

According to WABI TV 5, a 16-year-old boy was at Deer Lake Campground in Aurora at the campground's beach swimming with his brother and come cousins. While they were swimming, the brother yelled to an aunt that he thought his brother was suffering some kind of medical event in the water, the news station reported.

At that time, the boy reportedly disappeared under the water. Family members, as well as other people that were at the beach, quickly jumped into the water in an effort to locate the submerged child, though their attempts were unsuccessful, according to WABI.

The Maine Warden Service was called in and they quickly deployed a boat and subsequently a rescue diver, the news station stated. Shortly after entering the water, the diver was able to locate the teen about 60 feet from shore and in about 7 feet of water, according to WABI.

Sadly, the teen was deceased.

This is a developing story and we will continue to keep it updated as more information becomes available to us either from our media partners or from representatives with the Maine Warden Service.

Our thoughts go out to the boy's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
