Beginning this November, voting in the City of Augusta is going to look a lot different.

According to an article on the KJ website, the City Council voted on Thursday to make the Augusta Civic Center the city's only polling place.

In the past, the city had been seperated into 'wards' with four different polling spots.

Several reasons were given for the change including the lack of available poll workers making it difficult to staff four different voting locations.

Of course, there are still concerns about having a central polling location in Augusta.  The biggest of these concerns is that older residents may have issues getting to a polling place.  Some of these individuals do not drive and have become accustomed to being able to walk to their polling location.

Of course, in most cases, absentee (mail-in) voting would be an option for these people.

It is important to keep in mind that Tuesday's upcoming vote WILL NOT take place at the Augusta Civic Center.  Instead, this vote will take place at City Center on Cony Street.
