Shapleigh Rescue says the crash happened at about 10:30 Saturday morning near 710 Ross Corner Road when two vehicles collided head on.
Officials described the crash as significant and said the number of injured people, along with the complexity of the response, prompted a large mutual aid effort. Crews from Acton, Newfield, Alfred, Waterboro, Limerick, Sanford, Biddeford, and Goodwins Mills all responded to assist. LifeFlight of Maine also helped transport patients from the scene.
Authorities have not released the extent of the victims' injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the York County Sheriff's Office.
