Even though there are fun things to do in Maine all year long, the state really comes alive during the summer.

We are blessed with trails to hike, places to camp, mountains to climb, sandy beaches, and some of the United States' most pristine lakes and rivers.

Speaking of spending time on the water, Maine is also home to some day (and night) cruise lines.  We have whale watching cruises, sightseeing cruises, and party cruises.  For example, the Songo River Queen 2, which cruises Long Lake in Naples, has released its 2026 entertainment schedule.

In addition to day cruises, the boat, which is meant to resemble a 1860s paddle wheeler, will host nearly two dozen specialty cruises throughout the spring and summer.

About the Songo River Queen 2

The Songo River Queen II is a privately built 93-foot-long, 23-foot-wide paddle wheeler modeled after the famous Mississippi River boats, offering a smooth ride for all passengers. Built in 1982, it is carefully maintained, fully accessible, and can carry up to 350 people across two decks, including an open upper deck with a red-striped canopy and an enclosed lower deck with restrooms. The QUEEN easily hosts large gatherings like weddings, corporate events, reunions, proms, and tours, making it ideal for any group outing. Scheduled seasonal trips let visitors enjoy the lakes comfortably and affordably, with a food court available on board for added convenience.
