Maine Woman Killed in Sunday Evening Crash
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, a woman from Ellsworth was killed and several other people were injured in a three-vehicle crash Sunday evening in Gouldsboro.
Maine State Police say the crash happened around 6:55 p.m. at the intersection of Route 1 and Old Route 1. Troopers responded to reports of multiple injuries and a vehicle that had rolled over, trapping its occupants.
According to a preliminary investigation, 46-year-old Courtney Washington of Bangor was driving a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek northbound on Old Route 1 when she failed to stop at a stop sign. Police say her vehicle entered the intersection and collided with a 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 39-year-old Heather Allen of Ellsworth, who was traveling eastbound on Route 1.
The impact caused Allen's SUV to spin into the westbound lane, where it was struck by a 2014 Subaru Legacy traveling west on Route 1. The second collision caused Allen's vehicle to roll over.
Allen was pronounced dead at the scene.
