Even though we still ocasionally have snow in the forecast we all know that warmer weather is just around the corner.

So, there is no time like the present to start thinking about visiting our favorite seasonal ice cream stands.  In fact, one of the most well known ice cream companies in Maine plans to open its ice cream stands over the next few weeks.

According to an article on the WABI website, the people at Gifford’s Ice Cream are getting ready to reopen their popular seasonal stands across the state.

The family-owned company says the Bangor location will be the first to welcome customers back, opening for the season on Friday, March 13.  The Waterville stand follows a week later on Friday, March 20, and the Skowhegan stand will open on Friday, April 3.  Each location plans to operate daily from noon until 8:30 p.m.

Staci Gifford, vice president of the company’s family-owned stands, says the start of a new season always brings excitement.  She explains that between new pint flavors hitting grocery store shelves and the reopening of the stands, there are simply more chances for people to enjoy a scoop together.

This year’s lineup includes several eye-catching flavors.  Among them are Chocolate Caramel Brownie, which blends chocolate ice cream with brownie bites and caramel ripple, and Cookie Monstah, a bright blue vanilla base loaded with cookie dough and chocolate sandwich cookies.

Other options include Dough Your Job, Peanut Butter Caramel Cookie Dough, Peanut Butter Cookies and Cream, Power Play Fudge, and the colorful Rainbow Sherbert.
