What’s Going Into the Old Cancun Spot in Waterville, Maine?
The restaurant and bar business has always been a tough one.
The margins are often very thin, leading to a significant failure rate. These failures are not always because of poor management or an incapable staff. They happen for a variety of reasons. Sometimes, the concept was not right for the market or there was just too much competition.
Sadly, Cancun Mexican Restaurant in Waterville was one of these eateries. After several temporary closures the restaurant closed permanently in June of 2023.
Now, it looks like a new eatery will soon open in the old Cancun location.
Charros' Theater in Waterville, Maine
According to a recent article in the KJ, the old Cancun spot will soon become another Mexican restaurant.
The article explains that the business will be owned by Juan Carlos Sanchez. The name reportedly comes from the fact that the business used to be a theater way back in the day.
Much like Cancun, the new establishment will likely double as a nightspot, having DJs on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
The article explains that they are currently in the process of upgrading and renovating the space, making sure that it is up to code. The hope is that they will be open within the next two months.
