Deadline to Pre-Purchase Maine Lighthouse License Plates is August 31

The deadline to pre-purchase Maine Lighthouse license plates is August 31st. The Maine Lighthouse Trust, a non-profit 501c3 charitable organization with a mission to preserve Maine's iconic and histroical lighthouses has developed a campaign to create a specialty Maine Lighthouse license plate with a portion of the proceeds going towards the preservation and maintenance of Maine's lighthouses.

Since Maine’s lighthouses do not receive public funding, they rely on Maine citizens for maintenance and preservation. Unfortunately, most Mainers aren't aware that lighthouses need the care, attention, and maintenance that the Maine Lighthouse Trust can provide.

In order for the Secretary of State to release these plates, 2500 must be pre-ordered and as of August 13th, they are a couple hundred short of their goal, with a deadline of August 31st.
