In search of the coveted cotton candy grapes (YES grapes grown to taste like cotton candy. It's a thing!) I stopped by Main Street Grocery in Damariscotta. I was a bit late to the grape party as they had sold out, but I found something else. A wooden hutch near the entrance with non-perishable items. I couldn't believe it! This store had their very own mini-food pantry!

With a "take what you need, leave what you can" policy, this little hutch next to the entrance of the store gives shoppers a little reminder to grab an extra item or two to donate if they can, or it serves help those struggling budget better during their shopping trip if they could grab an item or two from the shelf.

Thank you, Main Street Grocery for this wonderful way to help those in need. We hope to see more places follow your inspiring example!
