Augusta Has Updated The Times For The 4th Of July Events… Again

As we learned on May 17th, with the easing of the State of Maine's COVID-19 restrictions, the City of Augusta would be holding a "normal", pre-pandemic style Independence Day celebration.  At that time, we learned there would be a parade and fireworks display and Sunday, July 4th.

Now, we are getting a few more details about what we can expect for the city's 4th of July celebration.

According to representatives from the Augusta Parks & Rec Department, the parade will follow the path it normally takes, but it will be much earlier in the day than it has been in the past.  It will start at the State House parking lot, it will roll down Capitol Street, onto State Street, through the rotary, and down Water Street.  It will cross the river and end at Old Fort Western.  Recently, the time for the parade has moved BACK to its normal 4 PM - NOT the previously announced 10 AM time! So, you're going to want to get your spot on the parade route between 3:15 and 3:45.

Following the parade, the Parks & Rec Department has a whole afternoon and evening of fun planned for your family at Mill Park.

There'll be non-stop live music starting at 5 PM with three amazing musical acts including a headliner that you cannot miss!  The evening's headliner will be Mullett, the amazing 80s cover band.  Based in Connecticut, they don't just put on a concert...  They put on a show!  If you love the music of the 80s, you're going to love seeing Mullett in concert.

There'll also be bounce houses and other fun for the kids, a half dozen food trucks, and more.

At 9:15, following Mullett's performance, we'll get to see one of the most amazing fireworks displays in Central Maine.

We're hearing there are other events and attractions in the works.  Hopefully, those will be confirmed in the next week or so.
