18-Year-Old Mainer Killed After Crashing Motorcycle into School Bus Full of Students
A tragic turn of events has led to the death of an 18-year-old in Maine.
According to WGME 13, a Tuesday afternoon motorcycle vs school bus crash in Gorham, Maine ended with a single death.
WGME is reporting that the crash happened on Tuesday afternoon at about 3:30 pm. Emergency crews were called to the scene of a crash involving a motorcycle and a school bus.
It has since been determined that the school bus, which was carrying the Windham field hockey team, had been in the process of making a left-hand turn when an approaching motorcycle crashed into the back end of the bus.
WGME reports that the crash happened on route 202 near Libby Avenue. The rider of the motorcycle, 18-year-old Casey Southworth, of Norway, was taken from the scene and transported to Portland's Maine Medical Center. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The school bus was en route to Scarborough for a playoff game for the Windham Field Hockey Team. Eventually, the team was loaded up onto another school bus and the players were brought back to Windham High School.
