The Maine Turnpike Authority is going to replace the Winthrop Street bridge over the turnpike in Hallowell. 

The bridge 60+ year old bridge will be closed for 55 days starting September 5. The $2.3M project should be done by Halloween.

Check out this map... the detour will send you along Whitten Road, Western Avenue, Armory Street, Capitol Street, State Street, and Water Street depending on where you are headed, so add a little extra commute time.

When they are done the bridge will be a littler taller for traffic below and a little wider for traffic above.
