Thanksgiving weekend and in Waterville and Augusta there is a lot going on besides some great shopping!

Downtown Waterville’s Parade of Lights will kick off the annual opening of Kringleville today (11/28). The 6 p.m. parade is organized by Waterville Main Street and will culminate in the opening of Kringleville. The parade will start at Head of Falls, head down Front Street, up Union Street, turn left onto Main Street and continue to Castonguay Square, where Santa will light a large Christmas tree in the square. After Santa Claus lights the giant evergreen tree, he will go into Kringleville to meet children. (centralmaine.com)

Augusta Downtown Alliance is hosting a series of holiday events starting today. The 35-foot holiday tree arrives at Waterfront Park early this afternoon. Then, Saturday (11/29) from 12-6 p.m., Santa’s Castle will be open at the Olde Federal Building, and in downtown from 1 to 4 there will also be, wagon rides, a live reindeer, children can write a letter.
