Waterville Police Report Bear Sightings

The Waterville Police are reporting that over the last 24 hours, on two separate occasions, a bear has been reported in the Silver St. / Pleasantdale Ave. area. The police department urges residents to be cautious and make children aware of the danger. If a bear is spotted, do not approach the animal, but call the police department at 680-4700. Please do not leave trash out that can attract any animal. The police hope that the bear can be returned to the woods. The city is in contact with the Warden’s Service and if sightings continue, steps will be taken to safely relocate the bear, police said.
