Augusta police are investigating the near drowning of a two-year-old boy Friday.  According to WABI, a Dresden man jumped in the Kennebec, got the boy back on land and gave CPR until rescue arrived. The boy is recovering and the police are investigating what happened.

Work on Civic Center Drive near the new Maine Army National Guard headquarters will move into nighttime construction. According to centralmaine.com there will be a traffic light at the intersection Civic Center drive, the entrance the Augusta Business Park and Blue Star Avenue.

Lewiston and surrounding departments were at a fire on Oak Street late last night. According to the Sun Journal it was not knowns is anyone was in the buildings.  Officials were at the scene all night.

From the Associated Press:Republican Gov. Paul LePage has broken his recent vow against speaking to the media and says Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has a good chance of winning in Maine. In an interview with conservative website Breitbart, LePage says Trump will win three of Maine's four electoral votes.

Four museums in the state will receive nearly $400,000 in federal funding to make improvements. The Maine State Museum in Augusta along with the Maine Historical Society, the Portland Museum of Art and the Victoria Mansion will receive funds.

The 40th installment of Maine's annual celebration of rural living is coming up this week. The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association is hosting the Common Ground Country Fair at its home in Unity from Friday to Saturday.

Muslims across New England have organized the region's first Muslim festival. Muslim Fest will take place Sept. 25 in City Hall Plaza in Malden, Massachusetts. Organizers say the festival will celebrate the diversity of the Muslim community and create a greater awareness of its cultural heritage. It is free and open to the public.

One of five devices found in a backpack near a train station in Elizabeth, New Jersey, has exploded while a bomb squad robot was attempting to disarm it. Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage says the device exploded early Monday. The FBI has been leading the investigation and working to disarm the other four devices. There were no reports of injuries and Bollwage says there could be more detonations.

Authorities are questioning several people as they try to determine any possible connection between an explosion in a busy New York City neighborhood that injured 29 people, an unexploded pressure-cooker device found blocks away and a pipe bomb blast in New Jersey. An FBI spokeswoman says agents stopped "a suspicious vehicle Sunday night. She says no one has been charged.

Authorities are investigating the weekend stabbings of nine people at a Minnesota mall as a potential act of terrorism. A young Somali man dressed as a private security guard entered the Crossroads Center mall in St. Cloud, wielding what appeared to be a kitchen knife, and allegedly made at least one reference to Allah before carrying out the attack. He was shot dead by an off-duty police officer. The man's father identifies him as 22-year-old Somali, Dahir Adan.
